High-Quality Biochar

Inkoh has been operating a pyrolysis reactor from Biomacon in Maienfeld in the Swiss canton of Graubünden since May 2020. The plant can produce around 450 tons of high-quality biochar per year from untreated forest waste wood. The waste heat generated in the pyrolysis process is used in a district heating network for heating buildings.

Inkoh biochar is sold directly, but is also processed into special substrate mixtures. It is also used as an additive for the climate-friendly KLARK concrete, which binds the stored carbon in the long term. Inkoh biochar is certified according to the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) standard and carries the highest level of certification EBC AgroBio and EBC FeedPlus.

I am fascinated by biochar as a product, its many possible applications and the benefits it offers. But not all biochar is the same. Our aim is to deliver the best quality and to be the leading supplier of biochar in Switzerland. First Climate accompanies us on this path as a reliable partner. We also benefit from their global network of committed companies that are interested in future-oriented carbon sink solutions. The cooperation with these companies enables us to consistently continue our growth course through the sale of carbon credits.
