Founding and Positioning
The first chapter in the history of First Climate begins in Switzerland when Factor Consulting + Management AG was founded in Zurich in 1999. From consulting services in the areas of climate action and climate policy to the first steps in project development and the delivery of carbon credits for companies, Factor increasingly positions itself as a Swiss pioneer in the field of climate solutions during the first few years. In Germany, the first foundations are laid with the parallel establishment of 3C Climate Change Consulting GmbH.

Growth and Merger
With the introduction of mandatory emissions trading in the EU in 2005 and the Swiss emissions trading system in 2008, Factor and 3C enter a new era. The demand for certified climate projects increases rapidly. Both companies grow. Numerous international branches are founded to support and promote the development of new carbon reduction projects in the respective countries. The companies begin collaborations.
In 2008, collaboration leads to the merger of Factor and 3C. At this point, the companys join forces and begins operating under the present name: First Climate.

The two enterprises complement each other – First Climate expands and quickly develops into an international service provider for corporate climate solutions with about 130 employees from all parts of the world.

Focus and Innovation
The carbon market keeps advancing – and so does First Climate. Shifting the focus away from mandatory emissions trading to voluntary climate action, the company increasingly adapts to the dynamic changes in the market and initiates various change processes in this period.
